Goals and Ambition

The House of Energy Markets and Finance apires to be the leading research institution in Germany for research at the junction of energy and finance. It builds on the expertise and international visibility of its members. The existing competences of the participating departments at the University of Duisburg-Essen will be brought together to form a centre with international visibility, combining research and teaching into sustainable market and trade concepts.

The combination of energy economics and financial mathematics methods is unique. In addition, the centre will serve as a crystallisation point for further competences related to the energy market. In particular, the integration of environmental economic and financial expertise as well as the consideration of competences from general micro- and macroeconomics, computer science and engineering sciences are planned in this context.
